Table 52

Saturday night, we had dinner at Table 52 and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It took 3 months to get the reservation ( had been back in November and that reservation took 2 months but worth the wait). Art Smith is the Chef and Owner and Oprah's former chef. The restaurant is located in a building that was originally the carriage house behind a mansion—both of which predate the infamous Chicago fire of 1871.

Courtesy of the chef, we had the deviled eggs with fried okra

and goat cheese drop biscuits. Here is the recipe. Then we had the Handmade Mozzarella, Arugula, Parma Ham, Roasted Tomato Sauce Wood-Fired Pizza. I had the Pistachio-Crusted Chicken Breast with Coconut-Ginger-Chili Sauce, Lo Mein Noodles and String Vegetables. It is a mixture of ground pistachios, fresh herbs and parmesan cheese encrusted on one side of the chicken breast sauteéd with a ginger curry sauce. The Three-Cheese Macaroni is like a little bit of heaven and cooked in their wood grill oven.

This is the light fixture that Art cooked under from 10 years in Ms. Winfrey's kitchen. It dates back from the 1920s. Art says "Every time (he) looks at that fixture, (he) think of [Oprah] and the light and all those wonderful meals at [her] table."

For dessert, we tried Art Smith's Hummingbird Cake - Here is the recipe (to die for!) and the 12 Layer Chocolate Cake - Dilly-lish! What a treat after a 5 lbs weight loss ;) Now at 24 lbs woo-hoo!
