Ready, Set for Camp Tomorrow

Today has been quite a productive day unlike many I've had recently. I am ready for Stamp Camp tomorrow. I finished my second prototype and found that I lost my first card and had to redo. It actually looks better than the first card. I learned a technique from one of the other bloggers on how to use a punch fo extend a tag. I used this technique for the stationary set - it really worked well. I'll have to fine the blog and give the person credit for this totally useful technique.

We're going to make this case to hold the cards. I got this idea from my upline - nice as a little gift for someone.

These are the four cards made with the SU's Holiday Papers. They are great and so easy to match and you have many choices.

Christmas is in the Air

This friday, 11/17 is our big holiday stamp camp. We have 8 people signed up already - ten of us in total WOW! I'm excited. I think we should call it "stamp-0-rama". Anyway, I finished my first card - nothing too difficult. A little embossing in red! I really like the contrast. The second item I "cased" from my upline with some modifications. This year's Christmas colors are pretty wild lime and bright red - so I tried to keep in with the general consensus. I think we probably will not have another "official" camp until January. I was thinking about just having a Christmas Card Making party. I am definitely making all my Christmas cards this year. I think this is this year's card.

How to Tie a Flat Ribbon Knot

Here are steps for tying a square or reef knot using flat ribbon such as Grosgrain.
Many thanks to Jen for helping with the photos!!!

Single-sided ribbon is used to show how to turn the ribbon so that you finish with the patterned sides showing. Ribbon that is one inch wide is shown in these photos, but the same steps apply for any width of ribbon.

Take the left side, cross it over the right and bring it under and down.

Make sure the two ends have the wrong (non-patterned) side of the ribbon showing.

Pull both left and right ends to tighten.

Use your left thumb to hold the middle.

Take the end that is now on the upper-left and flip it over your left index finger so that it lays to the right of the bottom-right ribbon end.

Keep your left thumb and index finger in place.

Flip the bottom end up to cross over the top end.

Continue to keep your left thumb and index finger in place.

Tuck the end that you just flipped up, under and through toward your left hand.

Hold the middle of the knot now with your right middle finger so that it doesn't loosen while you tighten.

Gently pull both left and right ends to loosely tighten.

As you pull the left end, flip up the ribbon so the pattern side shows.

Continue to pull both left and right ends to tighten, pulling the right end slightly more than the left.

Play with it slightly to position where the ribbon puckers if that is important to you.

Here is the finished knot.

Trim ends as desired.

Good Luck!
