April Stamp Camp ~ Mother's Day Simply Scrappin’ Card Box

A week ago Saturday, I had my monthly Stamp Camp.

We made a Simply Scrappin’ Card Box with 5 long note cards and 3 mini cards.

I chose Tie The Knot Simply Scrappin’ Kit for my sample box.

I let each stamper choose a Simply Scrappin’ Kit from the catalog prior to Stamp Camp. They could choose 1/2 of a kit for $25 or a whole kit for $40.
I had already prepared the box and lid using jumbo eyelet brads.

If they chose half a kit - which almost everyone did - they received 1 sheet of each of the double sided designer series paper (dsp), 1 sheet of each of the 4 solid colors and 1 sheet of each of the 3 die cut adhesives. I chose for them 1 solid color for their box and 1 dsp for their lid. I helped Zena and Pam with their boxes since they could not make class.

I supplied the embellishments and the envelopes.
We had containers of punches, adhesives, inks, sentiment stamps, ribbon, brads galore to choose from.

Amy was so sweet to bring her silent setter and Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite Punch. This really helped with the boxes.

News: Hodgepodge Hardware

This was just announced: Hodgepodge Hardware in Aged Copper, Antique Brass, and Pewter finishes will retire with the Spring-Summer Collection 2008.

Milwaukee Regionals

Stampin' UP had their Milwaukee regionals on April 19th. I met Sandra and Melanie up north at 7:00 a.m. at the Grandville Stop on the Red Line. Early!!

We found a table and within 15 minutes and the party began. A few SU Home Office employees showed us tons of techniques: Jaron Winter, Karen Crosby and Lori Olaveson.

Shelli Gardner was not able to attend but she sent us a heartfelt message.

My table got to take a picture with Jaron Winder.

If you've ever been to an SU event, you know that Jaron is hilarious!

Melanie and I preparing our stamps

One of my favorite things about Regional is all of the display boards that they have. I really like that I get to see TONS of projects to get ideas from. They always have a board just for the set that you receive. This is the board for So Much. I think this set is really versatile!

Here is a display board for Live Your Dream from the Occasions Mini. Three of the projects we made used this set. I love it!

We made a few Make & Takes using the Live Your Dream stamp set from the Occasions mini catalog. I really like the free set we got. It's called So Much. I wouldn't have bought it before, but I think I will use it a lot.

So the tutorial began. Jaron showed us this cute Father's Day card.

Jaron Winder made these cool CD hanging signs and showed us how to do it, step-by-step -- he used old CD's which he covered with designer paper and chipboard. The Crop-a-dile is perfect for punching through so many layers:

Here are just random photos I took of cards on display (click on any of the photos to see them more closely).

Tina Rapp showed us these cute Flip Flops for your wine glasses

Tip of the day: To make it easier to remove the backing from a Stampin' Dimensional, poke your fingernail into it. You can see in this photo how that pops one edge loose. This tip came from Jaron Winder with Stampin' Up.

Table 52

One more quick post lol - we had dinner at Table 52 again a week ago Sunday and low and behold, Jay-Z, Beyonce and Mary J. Blige along with their entourage had been there til 4am that day after their concert! Sarah Jessica Parker had had our table the Wednesday before. I felt like a star! LOL This was my 3rd return trip since November. It takes close to 3 mos to get a reservation and check out my last visit in February to get the full scoop!

Anyways, we had their dillylish Fried Chicken that had been soaked in Buttermilk for 3 whole days. I loved the flowers on our table.

Art Smith is the Chef and Owner and Oprah's former chef was on Top Chef this past week.

So behind!

Other than a few newsworthy items regarding SU's promotions, I think its been a month since I blogged! Since then, I have been to Long Beach - still need to post a few pixs, went to Regionals in Milwaukee - still need to post those pixs, had a stamp camp - still need - well you the picture lol and I attended a Scrapbook Bonanza at my friend Amy's house in Bridgeport on National Scrapbooking Day! Woo hoo!

I also took a few pixs of the tulips on Michigan Avenue and around my place so I will start with these and gradually lead up in the next few days to the bigger items -

Chicago is celebrating Spring with an architectural spin during their fifth annual Tulip Days on The Magnificent Mile.

Many renowned architecture firms have designed one-of-a-kind public art installations highlighting architecture and the environment in Chicago. The exhibit features 16 kinetic sculptures, typically powered by the wind, kinetic art is sculpture that contains moving parts.
