artScape Part 2

A little tardy in posting pixs of the 2nd week class at artScape with Nancy & Maggie. Here is a diplay of my cards.

We made four cards.

We made a set of 3 cards using the Merci SAB set and then I provided a plastic box I purchased from Papertrey for them to present them as a gift.

Table 52

Saturday night, we had dinner at Table 52 and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It took 3 months to get the reservation ( had been back in November and that reservation took 2 months but worth the wait). Art Smith is the Chef and Owner and Oprah's former chef. The restaurant is located in a building that was originally the carriage house behind a mansion—both of which predate the infamous Chicago fire of 1871.

Courtesy of the chef, we had the deviled eggs with fried okra

and goat cheese drop biscuits. Here is the recipe. Then we had the Handmade Mozzarella, Arugula, Parma Ham, Roasted Tomato Sauce Wood-Fired Pizza. I had the Pistachio-Crusted Chicken Breast with Coconut-Ginger-Chili Sauce, Lo Mein Noodles and String Vegetables. It is a mixture of ground pistachios, fresh herbs and parmesan cheese encrusted on one side of the chicken breast sauteéd with a ginger curry sauce. The Three-Cheese Macaroni is like a little bit of heaven and cooked in their wood grill oven.

This is the light fixture that Art cooked under from 10 years in Ms. Winfrey's kitchen. It dates back from the 1920s. Art says "Every time (he) looks at that fixture, (he) think of [Oprah] and the light and all those wonderful meals at [her] table."

For dessert, we tried Art Smith's Hummingbird Cake - Here is the recipe (to die for!) and the 12 Layer Chocolate Cake - Dilly-lish! What a treat after a 5 lbs weight loss ;) Now at 24 lbs woo-hoo!

I tried my hand at this sample that is in Spring-Summer Collection 2008. I am sampling this card tonight at my stamp class. I love textured paper!

Yeah I am so excited! I got in to Stampin' Up!'s Milwaukee Regionals - it will be Saturday, April 19th. I wasn't able to attend 2 years ago since I had broken my right wrist. But no stoppin' me this year ;)

What Finger Are You?

You Are a Ring Finger

You are romantic, expressive, and hopeful. You see the best in everything.

You are very artistic, and you see the world as your canvas. You are also drawn to the written word.

Inventive and unique, you are often away in your own inner world.

artScape Class

Last night I had my class at artScape. I had two students - Nancy and Maggie and they were friends! We had a great time talking about our favorite shows - (Christian's design on Project Runway rocked last night!, relationships lol and card making.) They really inspired me on their twists on my cards and they really enjoyed the different tools and samples I had displayed.

Here are my displays:

Here are 2 of the projects we did - A Valentine's Day card and a Happy Birthday card:

This is Maggie's twist (without the ribbon):

This is Nancy's twist (using a different stamp from So Many Scallops SAB set)

Here are the other 2 projects we did - Embrace Life cards:

The girls flipped the Ginger Blossom paper over and used the other side - and instead of making a bow they used it as a layer.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

xoxo
